Falcons ink Coleman to 4-year deal

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports that the Falcons have signed New York Jets safety Erik Coleman to a four-year contract worth $10 million, including a $3 million signing bonus. Coleman is expected to replace Chris Crocker, who is also a free agent, at free safety.

Coleman entered the league as a fifth round pick by the Jets in 2004, and had a strong rookie season with 100 tackles, 2 sacks, and 4 interceptions. But over the ensuing years has had a bit more struggles, and was finally benched after the first four games this past season for the Jets. He finished the year with 51 stops but no interceptions.
