Miami Pro Day Path To the Draft

Postby thescout » Fri Mar 25, 2011 6:24 pm

Just watched Path To The draft to see what the commentators had to say about the Miami players.

Charlie Casserley - Brandon Harris isn't fast enough to cover the speed receivers and not big enough to cover the bigger receivers. A 4th round selection.
Leonard Hankerson - watched several games of Hankerson and he drops the ball to much. His speed he ran at the combine was faster than his game speed. Basically he is a quesiton mark and a player to be nervous about.

Charles Davis - Allen Bailey great body on the kid but with that body where do you play him, plays like a tweener.

Looks like all the Miami players didn't perform well. I hope the Falcon's don't take any of the players from Miami.

I disagree with Mr. Casserly's assessment of Harris. I think Harris will at least be as good an NFL corner as DeAngelo Hall.

Can Harris cover the faster receivers like Wallace and D Jackson? Deangelo is faster than Harris. What about the big receivers can he cover them? Is Casserley correct in his assessment of Harris breaking on the ball and other things he evaluates for a corner?

I think Bailey gets picked in the 2nd round and I sure hope it isn't the Falcon's . I expect a player like Jernigan or another key contributer in the future. What about Hankerson's drops? He did well at the combine but he had several games he dropped to many balls. Some one at another board compared him to Hakeem Nicks.

Does it matter what I think about Harris? We both know the Falcons aren't going to draft him.

Hankerson is a complementary receiver. He had a good combine, but he's never been more than that. I personally don't believe in drafting complementary receivers in the 1st round of the draft, with only dynamic slot/return threats being the exception to that (e.g. Jeremy Maclin or Percy Harvin). So all the talk of Hankerson being a 1st round pick, I've never really bought into. Not unless there's a run on WRs at the end of the first, which is doubtful.

Harris probably won't be the Falcon's 1st round pick but if he slides late round 2 you never know. One thing about the draft it is still unpredictable on how good a player can be and Harris may be a very good corner given the coaching and developmental part. Work ethic is huge since alot of players have talent and how much of it does Harris have.
