Well you knew it was going to happen and it did. The multitalented Kin Kardashien just put out her first song for everyone to enjoy. She is teaming with Kanye West to so some videos. (Teaming being the ultimate word for getting it on ).
I think this deserves a WTF, Who cares statement. Gee Kim your trying to do the Paris Hilton thing huh? When's Paris's new album coming out. How did the first one do? It's most likely your just doing this for the media attention and I can find a 1000+ singers who would easily wipe the floor clean compared to your fantastic musical talent.

It's all about the media coverage for people like Hilton,Kardashien and Snooky etc etc. The more you can generate media attention the more money for them. Yet there must be people buying the product since they wouldn't be in business if they didn't.

These people live in a bubble,aren't talented and yet make big money. I guess its a blessing for them that they are able to do it. Are they really that dumb and shallow? I'd say yes but they know how to make the moola $$$ and that's what counts. None of us outsiders know what these people do in way of helping less fortuante people,volunteer work or charity. you would think they would do it but maybe these people are so caught up in their name and the high life they really don't care about anything but their fame and money?

Kardashien is great looking, a bit of plastic surgery but so what. I'm sure Kanye is getting along with her fine. Hey Kim how bout trying a white brother for once. Do they have to be famous? If not where do I apply?

Well I just saw her video today, and know not the music video, but the video with Ray J She's pretty hot but he kind of ruins it with poor camera work and close ups of his face... Anyways I thought of posting the link to the free video, but there is no age protection on this site... pm me if you want it lol

No doubt KK as got great looks but that's it. She's a A+ airhead, no talent but look good, cant sing or dance. Oh yeah she has learned to manipulate the media like the Hiltons,Lohans, Gosselins and Palins and she did make $6 million last year so it does pay to be a reality star in some sense. I gues if you look at it as another form of entertainment and not everyone gets the opportunity or doesn't have what directors want then you could make a case that there is an itsy bitty bit of talent, haha. You know certain people want to pay the bad person just so they get the haters and thus when their off the show people remember them in a bad way and yet these reality stars make a good living being the nasty person.It beats working for a living. Would any of us turn that deal down to be a reality star and all they do is just film you. I think I could be Mr. Mean if I had to be knowing the payoff is the loot at the end of the rainbow.

It's a genre people get tired of now since it's been around a few years. Ironic though just read Bristol Palin now will get a radio show of her own. Not bad for having no job experience,just out of high school and wanting to earn a little money. Just another source of money for the Palin family when does it ever end. Maybe Todd will get his own sports show on snow mobiling? Anything's possible with the Palins who would have thought.Thanks Mccain for letting america know who Sarah Palin is.

Our Crap Culture is depressing and I often wonder if the NFL isn't just one rung up the ladder from this stuff. The fact that we are even talking about KK or PH is kind of depressing. Bristol Palin with a radio show? Wease's description as "snowbilly" is letter perfect. Kiddy porn.

That couldn't be any further from the truth. 10 years ago when Survivor first hit American airwaves, I thought this reality TV craze would burn out in 5-10 years and we'd go back to having regular tv.

Boy was I wrong. It's only getting stronger.

Personally, I got no beef with Kim or Paris or anybody like them. I find it funny that people constantly hate on them for being celebrities sans talent, yet don't truly realize that the very fact of hating on them only increases their popularity/celebrity status.

I get people's beefs for them being bad role models for young girls because of their vapidness, but at the same time we live in a "Get Money" culture/society, so if people are going to give you money for just being hot and dumb, then by all means don't turn away the check.

I could get upset that some marketing guy is out there trying to make a quick buck by capitalizing on Kim's name instead of going out there and finding the next Aretha Franklin, but that's what American Idol is for.

Some truth there, Pudge...and the television producers couldn't be happier as these "reality" shows are about as cheap to produce as anything you could possibly imagine. I'm not really hating on these girls for being vapid. I'm hating on us for being vapid and caring about little more than what makes us the most money. Witness reactions to Luck's decision to return to Stanford as a symptom of this. The History Channel used to be one of my favorite channels and now it is eaten up with Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars. History? We have. literally, millions of years prior to this one to draw from and this is what is deemed important? It's sad. A large swath of Americans aren't fat and bored...they are fat and boring.

The minute you begin filming something it sort of slides away from true "reality" but your average 15-20 year old kid who watch this stuff have only the most tenuous idea of what "reality" is. Maybe all of us have a similar grasp or lack thereof. I guess the fact that people want to watch this junk is what is depressing. Going in a completely counter direction...you'll be able to hide a full grown rhinocerous behind KK's butt in about 15 years...wicked gravity, indeed.

I certainly agree that people who comment on the KK,Hilton,Palin,Gosselein are just adding to the fuel of exposure. It's a win/win situation for them. I 've always said having no press is the worst thing that can happen to a celeb. Good or bad press keeps you in the headlines and usually means money for the machine. Another way to look at it would any of us care if people hated or loved us being in a celeb's shoes? Probably not since other people don't pay our bills. What better life is there and just show up to a club where the club pays you 25-100,000 just for being there. It's really ridculous but that's the power of celebrity and why many peolple try and get on these reality shows. Whose that girl Snooky just saw she has a book out. Do I care? Nope, but I
m sure there are a flock of fans somewhere that will run out and purchase that wonderful mind numming book.

I think there is a huge segment that doesn't like these reality shows anymore yet somebody must be watching to keep them on.It's got to be quite a blow for some of these well trained actors/actresses who are looking for legit work and all the sudden some nobody with no experience gets on a reality show and the media blows them up so they can make a huge amount of money.Think Snooky could play in Hamlet or any of the brillant plays on broadway? Oh well it's the crazy society we live in and how you market yourself is key. Some like Bristol Palin just ride on the coat tails of momma grizzly and cash in.

Yeah, it might be huge. If 95% of Americans tune out, it doesn't matter because that's still a hit tv show. A show like Survivor has averaged 12-15 million viewers per episode for the last 4-5 years. That's only a small segment of the American population, but that still makes it a hit show. For some channels/shows, 1-3 million viewers makes it a hit.

Sometimes it's good to get a pulse of what sports fans thing of the reality stuff and the thread did start off by talking about KK's new song. Still haven't had any opinions of that only her looks and reality shows. Can we expect KK to be teaming with Mariah ala Whitney and Mariah?

...or the next GOP Pres candidate! That's the new reality!

what people often miss out on, is the reason 'reality' shows got a foothold was due to the writers strike. It's quite funny, if it wasn't so tragic. That's not to say without the strike we wouldn't have reality tv, it was coming here sooner or later. but by holding out the writers let the networks create a genre without writers ( I know, it's all 'scripted', but they dont pay union scale to the writers) and a way to make content much cheaper. The essentially screwed themselves, big time.
