Panthers- don't forget they took Brandon Lafell last year.

Locker is still a great player he is just on a garbage team.

other than that a great mock.

Nice mock OG draft. Is Williams better than Dowling? Miami would get a steal if Ingram were on the board at 17. I could live with another corner for the Falcon's. As you said Owens as disappointed and stockpiling corners might be the way to go till we find a few that can really play against all compeititon. Being in a division with New Orleans can't have enough def backs.

I don't think Brandon LaFell is enough justification to pass up on A.J. Green.

As for Williams vs. Dowling. I have seen very little of Dowling. I really don't know who is better till I fully scout them but I know we will be playing more man and Dowling seems like a guy that is better suited for zone where as Williams can play both.

I do. They took him for a reason and we ALL know they have tons of needs.

LaFell is not a No. 1 receiver. Thus why he was taken in the 3rd round. He's being outplayed by David Gettis, a 6th round pick.

The Panthers need to find a No. 1 receiver to replace Steve Smith in the very near future. That player is not currently on their roster.

I agree with this.

He has NOT been outplayed by Gettis. Gettis had 1 long play and that's really about it.

Smith will still be there next year. Instead of grabbing a #1 WR early why not take a more immediate need?

Despite living in NC, I haven't seen a ton of Panthers games this year, but from what I have seen, Gettis is playing better than LaFell. And the stats seem to reflect that. Gettis is starting, catching a higher % of passes, has been able to move the chains much better, and is better after the catch. And then throw in his significantly higher DVOA. Gettis is 25th in the league, LaFell is 73rd.

Actually lafell is now starting.

alot of his YAC comes from that bomb they threw him 2 weeks ago.

You're right, Gettis got about 50 yards of YAC on that bomb, and the difference in their YAC is roughly that (43 yards). But that doesn't change my opinion on who has been playing better this season.

But regardless the point still remains that LaFell (and Company) have done little to make the Panthers less likely to pass up on a top-level WR at the top of the first round.

Put simply, LaFell and Gettis alike are just complementary receivers at best, and thus if the Panthers want to find a suitable replacement for Steve Smith as their go-to option, then they must look elsewhere. A.J. Green in particular has a very similar skillset to Randy Moss.
