Glad I don't live in the UK:

Postby fun gus » Fri Oct 22, 2010 10:22 am

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... rs-in.html

In the middle of completely refurbishing his five-bedroom house, Connan Gupta felt he deserved a week off.
It is a decision he is now regretting because 15 squatters took advantage of his short absence to occupy the £700,000 property.
The jobless Italians changed the locks and have taken up residence along with their three dogs and two cats.
They claim the fact they cannot afford to rent gives them the right to take over the Victorian property in Camberwell, South-East London.

Police are powerless to intervene because squatting is a civil rather than criminal offence.

Indeed, but in some countries, the local constabulatory can escort them 'out', take them to a nice little place where they can 'squat' until a judge tells them not to change the locks on someone else's door. Hell, in some states you can do that yourself with a nice little sidearm! God Bless America!

As usual Gus your priorities are all screwed up due to poor research and bias. Sure it is a tragic situation in England. I hate England myself. But I don't judge a whole country based on a few isolated incidents. You would be much safer in England. They had just a few dozen hand gun deaths there last year. You are much more likely to be robbed and killed in Atlanta than in England. By the way there is also a Squatters rights law in Georgia. Granted it isn't as crazy as the one in England (which only happens a few times a year), but with the foreclosure situation getting more and more frequent, the art of squatting is making quite a comeback. I'll let you do your own research on the issue. I've always been curious of your hatred for all things foreign. Most Jazz/Blues cats that I have run across the past 30 years prefer to live over here. The reasons are obvious. In fact most of the people I talk to in the States would rather live over here. The ones that still wouldn't like to move are usually the fat bigots who are addicted to the American way of life. Good luck with that!!!

Thank you!! Once again it was just too easy. Looks like those lipids are blocking those synapses from firing.
