Pittsburgh Senior

PROS: Has nice speed and can make up for mistakes because of it. Has nice awareness in zone, and shows ability to keep things in front of him. Will come up and deliver hit and lower shoulder in run support.
CONS: Doesn't have good hips and lacks ideal burst out of his breaks. Needs to improve his footwork and comes out high out of his backpedal. Gets turned around in coverage and doesn't do a great job turning and running with receivers. Gives up too much cushion. Will bite on play fakes and give up the big play. Needs to do a better job breaking down in space and gets run over at the point of attack.
OVERVIEW: He was Pitt's top corner and often tasked with covering the opposing teams' top wideout, but didn't do a particularly good job at it. His poor footwork and lacking hips are his biggest flaw. A three-year starter that had 6 picks and 25 pass breakups in that span. Also had some experience as a punt returner with 38 returns for an 7.4 average as a sophomore and junior.
NFL FORECAST: Berry has a chance to compete on special teams, and will flash the ability to make plays in run support despite not having great size. If he became more consistent in run support, got bigger and stronger, I think he might have a chance to compete at safety. His ability in zone coverage might attract some teams to him, but unless he can play in a zone-heavy scheme and stick on special teams, he's not going to stick in the pros.
ATL FORECAST: Berry can be a body in camp, and the coaches might like his toughness. But unless he can show great ability on special teams, he's not going to be much more than a camp body. He's a less athletic version of Brent Grimes that won't be able to overcome his lack of height like Grimes.
VALUE: He's not worth a draft pick, but someone should bring him to camp to see if he can push for time.
