Terrell Skinner 6-2/214 Maryland Senior 40: 4.62 (Campus)
PROS: Comfortable working in the box and a good run stopper. Shows hitting power. Can make stops at the point of attack. Shows burst to come off the edge as a blitzer. CONS: Lacks awareness when working in zone coverage. Lets receivers get behind him too often. Gets caught up in traffic at times when playing near the line of scrimmage. OVERVIEW: A two-year starter at free safety that is mostly a run defender. Only had 2 picks in his career. NFL FORECAST: Skinner is one of those players that could probably bulk up and make a decent conversion to linebacker. But whether it's as an undersized linebacker or safety, his career projection is only as a special teams guy. He's just too limited in coverage to really ever get an opportunity to be a regular part of a team's regular defense. He is a player that is going to have to impact early on special teams, or else he won't last but a few summers in the league. ATL FORECAST: Skinner would only be a good addition in Atlanta if he can prove himself to be adept at special teams coverage. And because the Falcons don't have strong, established depth at safety, he has a chance to make it the team as a rookie. But he wouldn't be anymore important to the Falcons over the next few years as someone like Antoine Harris was over the past few. VALUE: Skinner isn't worth a draft pick by any team since he's purely just a special teams player.
