John Conner
5-11/246
Kentucky Senior

PROS: Is a power blocker with pop and will deliver blow to the linebacker. Hits most of his assignments, showing ability to block between the tackles and on the edge. Does a nice job cutting defender's legs out in space. Shows some power as a runner.
CONS: Lacks burst and speed to be a factor as a runner. Not a featured weapon in the passing game.
OVERVIEW: He is a nice power blocker that would work best in I-formation. He's nicknamed the "Terminator" and it fits well. Had 16 catches combined his last two years as the full-time starter, and 46 carries for a 4.5 average and 2 rushing touchdowns.
NFL FORECAST: For a team looking for a power blocker, Conner fits the bill. If you like I-formation and run a lot between the tackles, then he's a very good fit in your offense. And he probably has the frame to put on another 10-15 pounds to be even more devastating power blocker. Linebackers will not like meeting him in the hole. His downside is that he's not going to give you much as a runner or receiver. He's a two yards and a cloud of dust type of runner that will only be an asset in goalline situations. And while he's a capable receiver, he's not going to be featured often in a passing game, more of a guy that occasionally the quarterback will check down to when nothing else is there. But he certainly has the potential to be one of the more devastating power blockers in the league.
ATL FORECAST: If you were to team him with a power runner like Michael Turner, it would make defenses even more tentative about tackling. He has the ability to be a power blocker right off the bat for the Falcons and could potentially supplant Mughelli in that role by his second or third season. Not necessarily because he'll be better, but simply because he'll be younger and cheaper.
VALUE: Conner is a solid fourth round pick for a team looking for a powerful, smashmouth lead blocker.
