East Carolina Senior
PROS: Shows good ball skills and range in deep coverage. Does a nice job keeping things in front of him. Plays ball well in the air, and has the burst to break up the throw. Will come up and deliver hit to receiver over the middle and can cut a runner's legs.
CONS: An undersized tackler that will miss some stops. Whiffs on some stops in the open field and will take some poor angles to the ball. Can get caught peeking in the backfield.
OVERVIEW: He's a good coverage safety that makes plays. Combined for 10 picks the past two seasons, and began his career as a linebacker.
NFL FORECAST: He's an undersized guy that is a bit of a liability in run support. He'll make some big hits from time to time, but he's small and it shows when he tries to wrap up ballcarriers. He's going to fit best as a free safety for a team that runs a lot of Cover-2. If he can hit the weight room, he could be a decent starter in such a scheme. But more than likely, his struggles in run support will have teams viewing him as a backup prospect. So he'll have to impact early on special teams.
ATL FORECAST: He could compete as a reserve free safety for the Falcons since they like to run a lot of Cover-2. But he would only stick if he can impact early on special teams because he doesn't have upside to be a better option than Thomas DeCoud. BUt he could be a decent option down the road in case of injury to DeCoud. But he's unlikely to be a better option than Coleman or Williams early in his career.
VALUE: For a Cover-2 team looking for a developmental free safety, he could make a nice sixth round pick.
