Found our Gibbs retread

Postby VTCDTSYLR » Fri Feb 25, 2005 9:39 am

Dan Niel was released from Denver, we know Gibbs loves his retreads, and in this case I do too. I think he would be a great pickup for the RG spot, leadership/mentorship role, and depth. Maybe he even takes a pay cut to play with the coach who made him great once, or maybe not. Either way Mckay has some homework to do.

He'd be good for a 3 year deal. I'd much rather us go after Ben Hamilton though...

Oh yes. Neil for a while has been one of those players that is Pro Bowl caliber, but just doesn't get enough respect in the AFC.

Neil is one of the best guards in the league, and having him come in here would be a great move by the Falcons. According to PFW, Neil has only allowed 4 sacks in the past 3 seasons.

He's small, but smart, mobile, and athletic. He's the ideal player in Gibbs blocking scheme. He can come in and fill in at LG.

And Denver's not letting him go without some lengthy negotiations. They see him as the heir to Nalen's center spot, so they want to keep him around.

Hamilton stinks in my opinion, at least at the guard spot. If we signed him with the intention of him only playing center, then I wouldn't mind the move, but as a guard he's not going to be bring a lot to the table.

Neil on the other hand would instantly upgrade our unit. Hamilton would barely make a dent.

Good, he's a good signing by the Broncos, becuase of his experience and the fact that Nalen may be playing his last season there.

But he wouldn't be a good move here since there's no telling if he could beat out McClure for a job.
