I listened to the concert BB.It was nice to have a tribute for Golson and hear his compositions.Jeff Clayton teaches lessons out in Los Angeles and obviously plays alot.He really makes his sax students practice alot and instead of one on one practice he as all the students come and critique the lesson. This puts pressure on the sax student to not look foolish in front of his peers and Clayton really works the student to get better which is good.
Now if we could get a tribute for Phil Woods I would rest in peace. Phil is getting up in age and might not be around to much longer. It's to bad the public really doesn't know of the great jazz players still living at least the general common person. I always have to chuckle when a rapper all he as to do is come up with some poetry lines over a beat and the public loves it while a jazz player needs to know a million times more and doesn't get half the credit. The rapper lives in the penthouse the jazz player in the out house.
