Alfred Fincher could be sleeper big time player

Postby thescout » Fri Jan 28, 2005 1:30 am

Reading on NFLDraftScout.com there notes on the senior bowl state that Fincher could be a sleeper at linebacker and was impressive. They compare Fincher to Kendrell Bell.Do the Falcon's need a guy like this? Also they prediict 4th or 5th round which I think this Senior Bowl could jump him up to the 3rd round.

Is Fincher fast enough for Mora/Donatell's liking. He's listed at 4.75 as I see which isn't slow, but probably not as fast as those two guys would like. Considering both Demorrio and Brooking run around 4.55-4.6 range, I think the team is looking for another super-quick guy in the middle.

We need to keep our LBs strong and FAST! Brooking as fast as D-Mo? I find that VERY surprising...

Well I don't think Brooking could beat D-mo in a foot race, since he doesn't match him in "long speed" but I think Brooking has great burst, and over a short area he can be very fast. It's closing speed that counts.

From what little I've read on Grigsby, he sounds like a Brooking-type player in the middle. He sounds like he'd be a good fit.

I think what the Falcons are looking for is someone with good speed (4.6 or under), that is a force against the run, preferably doesn't struggle in traffic like Draft & Brooking have, and can at least be somewhat of a presence in pass coverage.

Another name to keep your eyes on its Clemson's Leroy Hill. He's small (measure 6-0/223 at the Senior Bowl), but if he can put on more weight between now and the Combine and then his pro day, and show some improvement in pass coverage, I think he's got a shot at being a selection by teh Falcons in Round 5 or later. Right now I think omst are considering him a 6th/7th round prospect.

Robert Mccune middle linebacker

They compare Mccune from lousiville to Jon Vilma. He is extremely fast and is a punishing tackler. He does lack pass coverage ability perhaps that can be developed.I think he could be had in the 4th to 5th round and could surprise people.
