The Atlanta Falcons announced today that they have released veteran DE Brandon Mitchell and reached an injury settlement with rookie free agent WR Derrick Tinsley.

Mora said in his press conference that they may bring Mitchell back in a few weeks after they see how he heals some more.

I think that basically means the team is not 100% sold on the backups on the D-line. I think our young guys have promise, but it would definitely be nice to have a veteran in there. When Antwan Lake is your only veteran, it's not really a good thing.

I still don't understand why we don't bring back Travis Hall at vet minimum if we need a veteran swing guy. Nothing against Mitchell but we KNOW how Travis does in this scheme...

I think this is a classic case of McKay/Mora wanted to bring in their "own" guy. Now Brooking is the longest tenured Falcon player and the last one to be here since the Super Bowl.

Hall is a quality vet that I think could still start on some teams in this league. Mitchell is a decent player, but isn't quite up to that level. Hall made 6.5 plays behind the line of scrimmage last year (3 sacks, 3.5 stuffs). Mitchell made just 1.5 (1 sack, 0.5 stuffs). That right there indicates how much more of a playmaker Hall is.

I agree Pudge, which is why it makes no sense not to bring back a fan favorite. Oh well, I guess we aren't supposed to understand everything...lol

Hall

Plus I think Hall was a team player, I mean the guy never complained or was in any off the field trouble that I know about.
