So what the f*** happened to DeCoud? From Pro Bowler to practice squad quality play...

Was DeCoud really that bad yesterday? I know it's been a cumulative effect over the course of several weeks, but besides not locating the ball on that bomb to Jackson, I don't recall him doing anything else too negative. But then again, I sort of watched the game with a glazed look in my eyes.

DeCoud should be cut at the start of next off-season (although since this team has a habit of overpaying mid-level players, it's far from a given). But between now and then, I don't really see what choice we have besides continuing to start him. I do think Motta should get some more looks in the lineup, maybe with the Falcons playing more dime looks on obvious passing downs (also they should get McClain back on the field in those situations), but he's not a long-term replacement for DeCoud.

Unless the Falcons pick up Kerry Rhodes tomorrow, we're stuck for the next 6 weeks.

Being that they're the last line of defense out there, I would at least want my safety to be able to wrap someone up if they got through everybody else... And I don't think tackling has exactly been one of DeCoud's fortes... I hope he can turn it around for the remainder of the season so that we wouldn't be desperate for a safety heading into the offseason.
