Week 11 Someone tackle Fitzgerald Plz! Discussion Thread

Well if our defense can't look good against the Cardinals offense, then I don't know what can be said about them...

The defense really stepped up in the 2nd half so no idea why you are ripping on them so much. Just hope tackling gets much better.

Saints Offense is playing at a top 5 level 3 of the last 4 weeks. Arizona blows. We are gonna destroy them by two scores or more.

Heck maybe Edwards will even get a sack vs the Cardinals. Is he on the team still?

I'm ripping on them because they gave up 8.5 yards per play in the 1st half, to an offense that averages just 6.1 yards per play.

You're right, they absolutely stepped up in the 2nd half and gave the offense numerous chances to win, and the offense fell short. But prior to facing the Falcons defense, the Saints were one of the league's weaker running game. They'll face an ever weaker ground attack in Arizona this week. IMO it's not a forgone conclusion that they will stop them.

When you get as gashed vs. the run as this team has throughout the year, and hardly get any pressure on the QB, they deserve to get ripped.

I'm really tired of the "Well the Saints are really good, so it's OK/understandable to lose to them" mentality. It's never acceptable to continue to lose to the Saints as the Falcons have done for the past 6 years.

I agree with that Pudge and believe me I'm sick of losing to Saints too when they are totally beatable. I just think the thread title is a bit obnoxious but whatever. I'm sure Mike Nolan will get on there asses.

Before the Saints it was the Bucs who schooled us year in and year out. What doe sit mean when someone from the Peanut Gallery declares that this or that performance is "unacceptable?' I remember years back to back where the team did not win a road game when Deion was on the team. There is an element of the human condition that I suppose could be loosely termed "greed" that wants more the more it gets. I get that pro football is about winning but, hey, it is about the other team wining too. The Saints are a good team no matter what their record says as are the Packers, Pats, etc. We are, by and large, the same team as last year. What makes you think all of a sudden we are the 67 Packers?

Jay Glazer just reported the Falcons are about to release Ray Edwards so he will not be getting a sack a tackle or anything else against the Cardinals.

Pudge called Ray a dog from the day we signed him. I am not big on ripping players bu tI recall watching him int he Jags game last year and he was putting on a Pro Bowl performance. And by that I mean he was leaning on the OT and putting zero effort. I wonder what brings this on now though? Gotta be some locker room problem. What are the monetary ramifications?

Can't wait to see Sidbury or Matthews sack Skelton and contribute more to the team in one game than Edwards has done all season.

Zero sacks in nine games that is down right sad for a starting DE in the NFL. I don't know who was more disappointing jamaal Anderson or Ray Edwards.

Guess which team represents the Falcons in this rivalry?

This game is going to feature some interesting matchups:

Arizona's OL is atrocious and thus if our pass rush cannot perform well this weak, then we are in trouble. This should be a perfect bounce back week for Abe after 3 OK performances.

Also the Cardinals DL is really good. Campbell is playing very well, and after a strong start Dockett has somewhat cooled off. He could be looking for a nice bounce back game going up against Konz and Clabo.

Itll also be interesting to see who Peterson covers. I think Arizona usually shadows him to r No. 1 guy. He and Julio had some classic SEC battles (which Julio usually won, frankly his best games typically were against LSU), but since he's beat up, I imagine Roddy will be shadowed.

Also Adrian Wilson vs. Gonzalez is going to be an interesting matchup. Arizona's defense is good enough to give our offense fits, and this will be a good test to see whether we can air it out vs. a good secondary. This might be the best defense we play all year long.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if this is a 17-13 game.

So I'm assuming from the lack of commentary in this thread everybody expects the Falcons to roll in this one?

The spread is 9.5 points.

If Julio is out, then the game will be close. The reason I think Atlanta is a lock to win is John Skelton and a lack of running game. If Arizona scores more than 20 points and by 20 points I mean like if the game is competitive, that I'll be seriously disappointed. You hold teams like Philly (still can be explosive) and Dallas to under 20 but Arizona scores 20? Atlanta's defense always plays well at home, I'm expecting a great performance.

I think the spread is way to high, but it's really hard to see the Card offense suddenly pulling it together and making our D look silly. I agree that our O vs their D will be great test, but lets be honest - if we couldn't run against the Saints, I've no idea how we run against this team.

I'm guessing somewhere in the 17-13 type game.

yeah those 5 picks for Norwood, uh I mean Julio looks pretty bad now. Dude cant stay healthy. When he is out, our entire offense struggles.

The only was this reflects well on TD is if Julio can play out the schedule and be a contributor for the rest of the season. Which I dont see.

Well at least it means we can now declare Julio Jones officially an IMPACT player.
