Did Carolina lose or did Atlanta win?

Postby Pudge » Sun Sep 30, 2012 6:28 pm

I stated in another thread that I thought Carolina lost this game more than Atlanta won. But I certainly understand if others think otherwise.

But when you pin a team at their own 1-yard line and then give up a 60-yard bomb on the next play, I think that's a team losing a game rather than the other team winning. Especially when that follows you fumbling on a 3rd & 2 that prevents you from converting.

Am I wrong for thinking this way?

Does it even matter?

Lets give the Falcons their due. It was a great stop by Abraham forcing that fumble and putting a hit on Cam. The deep bomb Matt thew wasn't great but give him credit for getting enough air on it then Roddy gets it. Were the Falcons lucky? I would say so based on getting another opportunity but Atlanta earned that win.

I'll say in the big picture, it doesn't matter. We won a game ugly that you could say we should not have won, but it counts as a win just like the clobbering they delivered last week. It doesn't worry me that much, because everyone is going to have "meh" games.

If anything, I'd say this is good because we pulled it out when we shouldn't have been able to. Wins like that can make the difference in where you stand at the end of the year.

It doesn't matter but I think that is a fair assessment. OTOH, I felt that we went a little conservative early in the 4th and it nearly came bakc to bite us, didn't we? Instead of delivering a kill shot we were running time off the clock up by 10 with under 10 minutes left--I think. Of course, with the sacks we were taking maybe it made sense. Good to see the run game re-appear. Reports of MT's demise perhaps a bit premature? The guy has hands of stone though!

:beef: Doesn't matter, if how you won mattered each of our first 3 games would count as two wins considering how thoroughly we whooped ass.... A win is a win, and we should all celebrate accordingly :drugged:

Atlanta had several opportunities to put this game away, and missed them. We seemed to be driving the ball down the field at will, but we couldn't close the deal. (1/4 in the redzone today) We outplayed Carolina today. We didn't outplay them by much, but it was enough to win.

We need to stop leaving points on the field.

Good teams find ways to win. Football isn't a beauty contest, winning ugly is still winning. Be happy for a change.
