I'm not bitter about it. But for me it makes no sense. In this world of instant communication, where we have things like Skype and such. What would it have hurt if they had delayed their flight from Pittsburgh to Tucson 4 hours so that he could meet with the team face to face?

"Here's [what] people don't understand," Graham said. "Coaches don't control the process. When you don't have a job, and they say you need to be on the plane first thing the next morning, that's what you do."

Fair point I suppose, but if you read through he basically never should have took the Pitt job based on those family comments. And really, any time you Petrino your players... :naughty: , esp in college where he had at least one recruiting class. Those are the kids I would feel for.

I get it, you just sort of scratch your head saying, what is so important that has to happen in Tucson that demands that Graham and his family board a plane at 6 AM in Pittsburgh? My suspicion is so that the hiring school (in this case ASU) can have a press release and press conference set for 12 or 1 PM, so they can make the evening news.

And for me, I'm looking at that, and saying that's worth a guy like Graham getting a black eye over? Getting lumped into the same category as Petrino. Because basically they couldn't wait 6 more hours?

To me, it's similar to how the whole Paterno thing played out in Penn State. Everything that man did for that university over 50 years of service, and they couldn't take 1 or 2 hours out of their day to drive over to his house and tell him face to face that he was fired?

But I guess that's where our culture now is...

I bet if you were to punish the coaches that did these things, switching jobs while still under contract with their old school, then they would start to feel like they control the process.
