Interesting read on your thoughts on the Common-Drake beef. I've lived through IMO the two biggest beefs of all time: Pac-Biggie and Jay-Z vs. Nas, so anything that comes along since then really is just trivial. Half of the time, it's somebody trying to make a name for himself. Not to mention, I've reached the age where I'm one of those "old heads" that no longer is that passionate about new music. For me, which I suspect is the case for A LOT of people, the music you hear from age 10-25 is really the music and artists that you hold sacred in your "formative years." I'll be turning 29 next week, and for the most part nothing I see/hear now eclipses anything that I saw/heard 15 years ago.
But for you, you're 18 or whatever, so you have another 7-10 years of music before you get jaded like me.
Also found it humorous to read your breakdown of DBZ. I don't know if you're aware of this, but for the past few months they have been showing Dragon Ball Z Kai on like NIcktoons or cartoon network or one of those channels like that, and it basically takes how in the original DBZ fights would last like 8-10 episodes, and condenses them now down to like 1-2. In fact, when they were re-airing the Namek Saga just before the Goku-Frieza, I figured I could wait a week to watch it because I remember it was like 28 episodes before any punches were thrown, but then when I came back to it like 4 episodes later, it was all over. Which shocked me.
You didn't really touch on this too much, but I do think it's interesting about being nerdy. I think in general, the vast majority of men are "nerdy" in the sense that our brains are wired a certain way that we become obsessive about something. For some its sports, others its comics, video games, and stuff that we traditionally see as geeky or nerdy. But IMHO one of the reasons why fantasy football has become so popular over the past several years is because it satisfies the inner nerd and allows it access to football (and really all sports) in a way that it previously didn't.
We tend to lump "jocks" and "nerds" into separate groups, but the reality is that IMO from a mental standpoint there isn't a lot of difference. It's really just physical.
