Last week, I updated the forum software. Many may have noticed that it was down for a bit. You may have noticed that your avatars have disappeared.
Now what I've noticed for at least myself is that when someone has an avatar linked off-site, it will display. But anybody that has uploaded their avatars it will not. If you try to click on it to load the image, you'll sometimes get an error page:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function request_var() in /home/falcfa2/public_html/forums/download/file.php on line 61
Apparently, the new board software changed a line of code. If I go into it and edit it back to the old way, then the avatars upload. But apparently that is not the secure way of doing it, and while I'd guess that it's a very modest change that won't lead to the board being really all that vulnerable, I'm not going to roll the dice.
The uploaded avatars are still in their folder, but for whatever reason the new code doesn't load them onto the page.
So until I can figure out a way to change the code without it becoming a security issue, then my suggestion is to either link to an off-site image or choose one from the gallery allowed, or go avatar-less.
I'm going to try and add some more avatars to the site's own gallery for people to choose from.
