The Tom Joyner radio show has issued a press release announcing that it will have a live interview with Michael Vick on Tuesday morning.

Vick has apparently decided not to say anything publicly when he appears in federal court on Monday, because the Joyner show promises that it will have Vick's "first public comments." The Joyner show also says that Vick will answer questions from callers. The show airs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern, and it can be heard at BlackAmericaWeb.com.

Although Joyner isn't likely to give Vick a Mike Wallace-type interview, he also won't give the kind of gushing, embarrassing softball interview that Porsche Foxx gave Vick last month. This will be Vick's first opportunity to show remorse -- so far he has shown none whatsoever -- and to rehabilitate his public image.

Vick cancels radio appearance

Tuesday morning's much-anticipated radio interview with Michael Vick is off, Tom Joyner announced on his nationally syndicated program.

"He really wants to do it, but all of his advisers are advising him not to, because everyone is taking what he says out of context," Joyner told listeners Tuesday.

According to Joyner, Vick had agreed to take calls from listeners and "explain his actions." Joyner said Tuesday the Falcons quarterback, who on Monday pleaded guilty to federal dogfighting charges, called the radio host personally to cancel the interview.

"Mike was very apologetic," Joyner said on his radio show.
