During the last 6 and a half years the Falcons and their fans have been under a spell. He seduced a HOFamer player and coach to draft him by selling the Falcons' Soul.
While collecting millions and millions from salary and shoe deals, and throughout the early and mid-part of the last decade, he hypnotised not just Falcons fans but the entire NFL tribe. Those that loved him gave freely and generous their tithes on Sunday in worship. The ones that hated him gladly offered their bile that he drank as he laughed like a thirsty vampire.
Last night he was no where to be seen,...excorcised by his own doing.
The Falcons wore white pants rather than the gang related wearing of as much black as possible and this alone was as the Sun shining after a long time of dark clouds blocking the light.
Instead of sitting up on the edge of your seat to see if the QB was gonna bail out and run, we saw a QB go 6-9 in the first qtr.,...the only qtr he played. We saw the O-line with 4 returning players from last season along with a rookie guard and a backup TE superbly protect the QB,...like they could've done all along the last few years because now they knew where the QB was gonna be.
Watching the Falcons offense in that first qtr. was almost magical,...like a relief. It was fun and exciting to see the varying formations but it was more fun to know our QB wasn't gonna be running around like a lost dog or something,...ahem, pardon that please. The offense, in fact, looked efficient and not adulterated by such a QB last night.
Across the internet Falcons fans are predominantly optimistic even after a 31-16 loss,...and that's saying a lot. If the fans are feeling good about things, it's guaranteed the PLAYERS are feeling good about things.
In ending,...last night it felt like the spell has been broken.
