Brad Pitt to star in 'World War Z' zombie film, report says

Brad Pitt is set to star in the film World War Z, based on Max Brooks' sci-fi novel about a zombie apocalypse, the author was recently quoted as saying.
In the book, a Chinese doctor encounters one of the earliest zombie cases and an outbreak soon occurs, despite his government's attempt to suppress information about the treat.. Survivors of a worldwide battle against the zombies, including smugglers, intelligence officials and military personnel, share their experience.
Pitt's production company Plan B Entertainment in 2007 secured the rights to make World War Z into a movie. He has not commented on the report. Brooks said he recently received a call at Comic-Con in San Diego that confirmed the actor would be in the film , MTV said.
"I can't believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been," Brooks told the network regarding the film and several other projects, adding that World War Z has a preliminary Summer 2012 release.
"I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can", said Brooks. "I'm so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team."
Marc Forster, director of the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace, is set to direct World War Z.
