I was watching Charlie Rose just now and they had a person on there Ken ?? that wrote a book called Googled. Very fascinating guy talking about how technology companies wanting to keep growing their business and what their doing about it. A few things I didn't know were.

1.Google tried to buy Twitter last year were afraid they would steal customers but Twitter told them their not for sell.
2.The one thing Bill Gates isn't worried about isn't competitors but some small guy in a basement who might come up with a new way of doing things that could ultimately revolutionize the internet.
3.Microsoft which invented Bing is trying to take market share away from google but right now google is to strong.
4.There are 3 people on the who are on the boards of directors of google and microsoft who.One of those peole is Al Gore surprise.
5.Comcast bought NBC so they can eventually compete with ESPN.
6.Bill Gates,Google and some other main players worry that the social networks could overtake people's interest and people don't use the rest of the internet for other activities. In 5 years facebook has grown to 300,000,000 users.
7.Newspaper companies would like to make online media their main business instead of printing papers which means the expenses to get the papers to businesses is alot. If they can grow the profit enough where they get a good amount of remevenue from their online sites there would be no need for print newspaper. Now he didn't mean newspapers would be obselete just that you would see alot less of them.
8.Apple and Google don't like each other.

I only heard about 20 minutes of the interview but if you get a chance get the book called Googled.I am going to look at it maybe get it from the library or buy it since it sounds interesting.

The internet will be the death of the human race.

Eventually Google, Wikipedia, Yahoo!, Amazon, Facebook, MSN, Youtube, and MySpace will be all the same company/site.

That company's name will be SkyNet.

[insert Terminator theme music]

The "death" of the Human race will not be because of technology. It is merely a tool. The Human race will die off because everything eventually dies off.

Technology is going to kill us BB. If not directly, indirectly. We'll become so lazy because technology allows everything to happen immediately, that we won't be able to defend ourselves.

If not Terminator, our future is going to be like in the movie WALL-E. Is it a coincidence that richest and most technologically advanced nation in the world is also the fattest? Hmmmm. :?:

The USA is neither the richest nor the most technologically advanced nation in the world. But they are in the running for the fattest.

The U.S. is the richest nation in the world. If you measure by GDP per capita, all of the other countries that are higher than us by most sources have populations smaller than the state of New York. Considering our size and wealth makes us the biggest fish in a very big pond. We are the most technologically advanced, although Japan's cell phone and electronics-based industries are a year or two ahead of us.

You can believe the propaganda if you want Pudge...don't make it so my friend. It is a very unbalanced variation with the top 5% holding most of the wealth. Where in other countries it is much more of a middle class. Once again, stats projected one way doesn't tell the whole story. As far as technology goes, there are countries that are much more into the research areas that will (are) yielding incredible advancements in nano robotics and many other computer related areas. Congrats Pudge...you've been brainwashed.

And these countries are? And so when nanotechnology is unveiled at some point this century, American scientists and inventors will be standing on the sidelines?

You can call it propaganda, I'll just call it the F-22.

I think if we can control the aliens from Outer Space and their technology we should be able to control the little varments called nanonites.

 Pwned.

Some wise people look at the Hopi/Mayan predictions of 'something big' happening in 2012, and instead of it being the end of the world, it would be the dawn of true AI. Once that occurs, humans would have attained Godlike status, being able to create a free thinking, immortal sentient creation. One that would see no further use for us.

duhduh duh duhduh.....
