I just read this article on a new movie showing next summer called Salt. Looks real good an action movie that stars Angelina Jolie.Tom Cruise turned the role down to simiar to Mission Impossible movies. I guess if you don't need the money then go ahead but this looks like a top movie. Jolie in another actiom movie something I never get tired of.

So it's basically like every other "intelligence thriller" except it has Angelina Jolie in it instead of Tom Cruise. This movie may be big, but Tom was right in passing. He's already made this movie twice: the 1st Mission Impossible as well as Minority Report.

Yeah, it looks great. :|

Will see Pudge. The public eats these kind of movies up and Angelina doesn't look to bad either.

It could be very entertaining. I mean this movie has been made about a million times, and that doesn't keep it from being entertaining.

And since it's starting a girl this time, could at least make it an interesting twist.

The usual formula is some decorated soldier/agent with a penchant for being a bit of a loose cannon gets hired to do some job. The job goes wrong, and they are set up. And then they spend the next 80-90 minutes trying to track down those that set them up. It winds up being their boss/friend/mentor that they thought was dead, or a greedy politician who is looking to exploit the underlings of the world or cover up some previous exploitation, etc.

And along the way they meet, rescue, or kidnap some girl who at first is antagonistic towards them, but then eventually comes to respect them and winds up having a passionate night of love-making.

And usually in the end, there is another agent/hitman/soldier that has been chasing/tracking them the entire movie, typically the lap dog of the person who is pulling the strings, and just before they take down said evil villain, they usually take out their nemesis just before.

And often you have a twist at the end like maybe the girl was in on it the whole time.

They've made this movie a thousand times with some minor tweaks. Almost every movie that is dubbed an "action thriller" is this movie. It's the combination of the chase/who dun it flick that involves car chases, big explosions, and gunfights. Rarely has it been made with a woman as the lead actress, so this will be a new tweak, but in the end it'll probably be the same movie as the hundreds of others. Here's a few:

Most Wanted
Shooter
The Sentinel
Mission: Impossible 1
Mission: Impossible 3
The Bourne Trilogy
Eagle Eye
Hitman
Ninja Assassin

And those are the ones I just came up off the top of my head with about 8 seconds of thought put into it. If I actually cared enough, I could probably find 50 other movies just like it.

Well I keep thinking of the early Kevin Costner movie where he actualy was a russian spy and you never knew it till the end of the movie. I thought at the time what a good movie.Maybe Jolie is a double agent?

Do "A. Jolie" and "good movie" belong in the same sentence?

I think it was written by a Japanese whose second language--recently taken on--is English.
