Miami FL Senior
Has good, strong leg that shows it both as a kicker and punter. Has the ability to get good hangtime and force the fair catch. Can work the short field and pin teams deep. Has the leg strength to kick his team out of trouble as well. Has field goal kicking range up to about 50 yards. AS a kickoff specialist, shows ability to drive the ball into the endzone for the touchback. Capable onside kicker. Shows some toughness, willing to contribute and make a tackle on returns.
Not consistent in any regard. Shanks a few too many punts on occasions, particularly when it comes to trying to pin teams back. Will outkick his coverage and line drive some punts. Not a reliable field goal kicker that can have some low trajectories, and won't reliable hit the chip shots.
Bosher handled punting duties all four years, but also was their top kicker his last three years. He flashes a big leg, but needs to be a bit more consistent. He's probably a bit more polished as a punter, but is good enough to compete as a kicker at the next level as well. His accuracy as a FG kicker dipped each year, so that he finished his senior year hitting 76.5% of his 17 attempts. For his career, he hit on 84.9% of his 53 FG attempts, hitting 90% of his kicks inside 40, 62.5% from 40-49 yards, and 80% from beyond 50. Averaged 41.7 yards on 234 career punts with 70 placed inside the 20 and forced 82 fair catches. Had 4 blocked during his first two seasons, but none his last two. Had his best year as a punter as a senior, averaging 44 yards on 59 punts. Was only moderate kickoff specialist until his senior year where he averaged 63.5 yards on 67 kicks with 15 touchbacks.
While he put up some good numbers as a kicker at Miami, I think Bosher probably projects better as a punter. There his leg strength, and ability to get hangtime and pin teams deep will be much more consistent and reliable than his ability as a FG kicker. You like his leg strength in the latter area, but I don't think he is a reliable enough kicker to be trusted there. He needs more development time to stick in the pros there. But he is a good enough punter to work as a rookie. He wouldn't be good, but if he can have a season or two to work out the kinks, he has potential to be one of the better punters in the league. I would compare him to a guy like Nick Harris. Harris came into the league as a talented punter out of Cal, struggled kicking the elements of Cincinnati for three years, and then went to Detroit and within a few more years he was one of the better punters in the league. Like Harris, I think Bosher is going to have to kick in ideal environment and warmer latitudes. I like his value and potential as a kickoff specialist, if he can continue the progress he showed as a senior. Like with Harris, you might wind up waiting five years before he starts to live up to his potential as a punter, but I think he'll be good enough to get the job done in the years leading up to that.
I think Bosher has the potential to be as good if not better punter than Koenen with the Falcons. Kicking indoors would help his transition to the league and there he can maximize his ability to get hangtime and work the short field. He can also kick off, and while I don't think he'll be as reliable at driving opponents deep as Koenen has been over the years, I do think he'll be a solid kickoff guy. He won't be as good as Koenen right away, but I think if the Falcons opted not to re-sign Koenen, he would be an adequate replacement that could get the job done. And by the time his rookie contract was set to expire, he should have started to make serious strides forward to become a good and potentially Top 10 NFL punter.
Bosher is good enough to get drafted as a punter in the seventh round. And could get looks in the late sixth for a warm weatehr team looking for a combo punter/kickoff specialist.
