Overview:
Obi Ezeh is a disappointing LB prospect. After his great sophomore year I thought he had some potential but he has yet to improve or even come close to matching those numbers. He’s not a very good athlete and for his size and experience he is an awful run defender and still makes too many mistakes. He may not have a true position at the next level. 3-4 ILB would seem logical but he would have a tough time shedding blocks inside. He lacks the range to be an OLB and his upside is at best a special team player. I think it will be very hard for him to make an NFL teams roster.
Scouting Report:
Positives
- Great size - 4 year starter - Good tackler, sound technique - Gets his pads low - Doesn’t miss many tackles - Understands his assignments in coverage
Negatives
- Poor athlete - Stiff hips and struggles to change directions - Will have a tough time in coverage in the NFL - Doesn’t have great range - Struggles to shed blocks - Takes poor angles and runs himself out of the play too often - Doesn’t play the run as well as you would expect from his size - Poor awareness and instincts - Bites on play fakes too much - Won’t be much of a pass rusher - Has actually regressed - Limited upside
Skills: 1-poor, 2-weak, 3-above average, 4-very good, 5-elite
