KEITH WILLIAMS
6-4/318
Nebraska Senior
40: 5.36

PROS:

Plays with good pop and initiates contact as a run blocker. Shows power and ability to get push as a drive blocker. Uses his size to get position and is effective getting position in space. Does a good job getting out on the second level and can get the seal there. Shows good ability to pull and hits most of his assignments. Can flatten a linebacker when he pulls and delivers blow to defender at the second level. Is physical and flashes mean streak. Shows decent lateral footwork and technique and does a nice job in a short area. Gets extension and shows he can be effective matching up with power. Has nice knee bender and plays with good base. Shows ability to adjust in space to the blitzer off the corner.

CONS:

Doesn't have great footwork and struggles against speed at times. Not super quick into his stance. Will whiff on his punch and can't consistently lock on in pass protection. Not super fluid when moving on the second level and can miss assignments because he can't adjust well to hit a moving target. Gets overextended as a run blocker and will lose his footing, especially on a second level. Can't always lock onto defender when he's pulling.

OVERVIEW:

Williams is a capable guard that is most effective because Nebraska likes to pull him and run behind him. He does that well. Has good size and strength to help push the pile as a run blocker. Effective in pass protection, but that's probably where he's weakest. A three-year starter at left guard with 34 starts in that span.

NFL FORECAST:

Williams has good potential as a starter. He is a good run blocker that will work best in a man blocking scheme that pulls him. He has the ability to be a solid all-around starter. He'll just struggle against elite talent at the next level, but for the most part should be an effective starter. He probably is good enough to handle a starting spot off the bat, but if he gets a year or two to develop, it should definitely help his chances of sticking. The comparison I would make with Williams is Justin Blalock. I think like Blalock, he's good enough to do whatever you ask him to do whether it's block straight ahead, pull, or get out on the second level. But may not be consistent enough with his footwork and technique to be good, just effective. I think he'll wind up being an average to above average starter that will start for multiple seasons in the league, but will never be great. Just a guy that teams will be comfortable with in the starting lineup, but they are consistently bringing in backups and draft picks to push him.

ATL FORECAST:

Williams has a chance to push for time at left guard for the Falcons and be a nice developmental insurance policy down the road. He's not going to be a better option than Blalock or Johnson off the bat, but a guy that can come in and push Reynolds as the fourth guard if need be. If he can develop and someone like Johnson doesn't solidify the left spot then by his third year he could be a good replacement starter. He's not a guy that is going to upgrade the Falcons starting lineup, but gives them at least a very good backup and a guy with starting ability as a stopgap player for a couple of years.

VALUE:

Williams is a solid mid-round pick that should be drafted somewhere in the latter half of the third round or fourth round.
