Overview:

Kris Adams is a WR that will probably not make an NFL roster but should stick around on the practice squad. While he does have some nice areas to his game, he isn’t a very polished WR. If he is given the time to improve and get some good coaching, he may develop into a nice 4th or 5th option on a team, although he will probably never be a starter.

PROS:

Has nice size and is able to use his body to get position. Tracks the deep ball well and attacks it in the air. Can get downfield and make plays and is a long strider that get behind corners. Can beat the jam. A decent blocker on the edge and will give effort downfield.

CONS:

Will drop passes from time to time, as he doesn't always look the ball in before trying to run with it. Can lose concentration when about to take a hit. Lacks burner speed when challenging downfield. Needs to get a better release off the line and lacks explosive burst. Has trouble to maintain position as a blocker, and underwhelming for his size.

OVERVIEW:

Adams has a tall frame and is able to make plays down the field when he can get behind corners. But he lacks the ideal speed and burst to do that at the next level. And he's not quite as physical and reliable as you'd hope for a player his size. But he has the tools to develop as a reserve receiver. Productive receiver in two years at UTEP, combining for 97 catches for 2028 yards (20.9 avg) and 28 touchdowns in sophomore and senior years.

NFL FORECAST:

Adams is going to have to make an impact early on special teams to stick on most rosters. He's a good receiver but doesn't quite wow you enough to think that every team will fall in love with his offensive potential right away. He has potential as a vertical receiver and redzone target, but in the end I think he's more of a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver at best. And as a No. 3, he's more of a depth guy that someone that is a regular part of an offense. He's the type of guy that can give you around 25 receptions off the bench, but probably not more than that. And thus his ability to stick long term will likely depend on his ability to perform on special teams. The player I would compare him to is something like a faster version of Sam Aiken. A guy that has enough skill to make a roster, but more as a depth guy than someone that will be a regular part of a lineup. And like Aiken, he is the type of guy that probably becomes a journeyman once his rookie contract expires.

ATL FORECAST:

Adams could add depth here in Atlanta. He fits what the Falcons should want on the outside, which is a tall receiver capable of getting vertical. He can be a nice backup to MIchael Jenkins, but it's doubtful he develops into the caliber of player that is a starter for the Falcons. Again, he's more of a depth piece that can be a decent stopgap option if the real starter gets injured for a couple of games, but for the most part he's going to be an afterthought most weeks as a fourth option and special teams player.

VALUE:

Adams merits late round consideration because he does have some upside and ability to stick. The earliest he should probably go is the late fifth round although I think a sixth or seventh round pick makes more sense since he's not a slam dunk to make the initial roster.
