Pros: Has good size and shows some pop as a hitter. Does a nice job wrapping and comfortable working in the box. Has nice closing burst on the ball and has the quickness to match up with tight ends in coverage. A good athlete.
Cons: Shows poor awareness in zone coverage and not comfortable working in space. Can be late reacting to the deep ball and overly relies on athleticism rather than playing with intelligence. Struggles at times at the point of attack as a tackler, and doesn't always wrap. Will lower his head at times.
Overview: Has ability as a run stopper but needs to play with more discipline, particularly in coverage. Was involved in a fight as a freshman in which a teammate was shot in the arm. He sustained minor injuries.
NFL Forecast: He has a chance to stick as a backup if he works well on special teams. He might be able to develop down the road and become a serviceable starter, but he needs to be polished up a bit. His lack of awareness in coverage hurts him a lot, and unless that changes he'll be very average as a starter, routinely giving up big plays via the air. He's a good athlete though that has nice size and ability vs. the run, so I could see him being a capable reserve for a number of years. But limited at this point as a starter.
ATL Forecast: Langford could add depth at SS, but wouldn't be a good candidate to potentially take over the starting spot. Instead, he could help out on special teams, but really the upper portion of his upside is about the caliber of player that Jamaal Fudge is, except Langford has an NFL body. He can make the roster and last a few years as a reserve, but that's about it.
Value: I wouldn't draft Langford, but some team might like his potential enough to snag him late in the seventh round.
