6-1/200 Texas Tech
Pros: Is a physical player in run support that likes to come up and deliver the blow to the ballcarrier. Has nice closing burst on the ball and is a sound tackler that wraps. Does a nice job in coverage when he can keep things in front of him. Able to jump routes on the short zone.
Cons: Is undersized as a tackler and doesn't have great pop. Has trouble breaking down in space and will miss stops in the open field. Doesn't have great ball skills. Will bite on play fakes and lets receivers get behind him.
Overview: McBath plays hard and is physical run stopper that is adequate in coverage. Had 6 picks as a senior.
NFL Forecast: At the least, he should be a capable reserve player in the league. But I think he has the upside to be a starter at the next level. Won't be great there, but if he can get stronger and polish up his skills in coverage, he could be a capable starter. He can be the leader of a secondary, but I think it's going to take him at least two or three years before he reaches that potential. Won't be a star, but team him with another safety that is a bit more capable vs. the run, and you should have a fine starter.
ATL Forecast: McBath could provide nice depth for the Falcons and a few years down the road if/when Coleman starts to slow down could take over the starting position. For two or three years, he can provide some depth, working mainly on special teams. But he could be developed as an heir apparent to Coleman down the road. Or also could be an option at strong safety, but he's not going to be a factor in the immediate future.
Value: McBath is a mid-to-late round pick. He wouldn't be a reach late in the fourth, but I'd probably target him in the fifth.
