Coye Francies
6-0/185 San Jose State
4.59 Senior

Pros: Shows good awareness in zone. Has good ball skills, nice hips, and burst. Shows potential in press coverage. Willing in run support, and will stick his neck out.

Cons: Will miss some stops in the open field as a tackler. Needs to be better at getting the jam.

Overview: Started out at American River Community College before moving on to Oregon State for a year, and then transferring again to San Jose State. Came to San Jose State after being kicked off Oregon State team for carrying a loaded gun in the summer of 2007. He's a solid zone corner with potential in man coverage. Teams with SJSU's other solid corner, Chris Owens. Francies is the more athletic of the two, but Owens seems to be more the more consistent and disciplined player.

NFL Forecast: Francies will probably be a very good nickel cornerback, but not sure he has great upside to be a starter. Can he start? Certainly. But will he be an impact player there? Not so sure. In a zone scheme, I think he'll be a better starter. Also worked as a kickoff returner, so he can help contribute on special teams right away. The type of player that I could see being a capable nickel corner with the team that drafts him and then once his rookie contract expires his second team gives him a chance as a starter.

ATL Forecast: Francies would be a good fit in Atlanta, particularly in boosting depth. Not sure he is any better an option than Jackson or
Houston as the starter, but he could certainly push those guys in a year or so for the starting job. Would make a nice third option at the cornerback position, but not sure he'd be a starter here in Atlanta over the long haul.

Value: He's a middle round pick. I wouldn't take him until the fourth or fifth round because of his questionable upside as a starter.
