6-1/204 Ohio State
Pros: Has good hips and burst with nice speed and a nose for the ball. Shows nice footwork as well. Has solid potential to be a press corner due to his superior strength. Solid in run support that does well in the open field, has pop, and does a nice job wrapping.
Cons: Needs to improve his ball skills when reading the quarterback. Will struggle defending the deep ball because of lack of good speed and will also have trouble covering smaller, quicker wideouts in the slot. Doesn't consistently get the jam and will occasionally miss stops in the open field. Gets caught up in traffic at times when playing the run.
Overview: Jenkins is the ideal corner for the Cover-2 scheme, where he can use his size and strength to press receiver at the line, and gets deep help because of his lack of speed. He should be effective in both man and zone coverage. Reminds me a bit of Quentin Jammer and Ronde Barber.
NFL Forecast: I'm not confident Jenkins will be an elite corner, but I do think he'll be one of the better guys in the league as long as he plays in the ideal scheme. He could also play safety as well, but that's not his best position. He'll just be an above average starter there. He'd probably need to bulk up as well there. But as a Cover-2 corner, he has a lot more upside. But even in a less than ideal scheme, he should be a capable starter. The type of guy that has a high floor, and you can be fairly confident will be a capable starter.
ATL Forecast: Jenkins would fit well in Atlanta due to their propensity to give their corners deep help. He'd be the ideal candidate to face a bigger wideout like Colston because he can press him and mix it up. He'd struggle against a quicker guy like Steve Smith, but the hope is that Smith will start to slow down now that he's in his 30s. But I wouldn't count on it. He'd be a solid starter for the Falcons and the guy that routinely matches up with the opponents top receiver As far as corners go, he's one of the few in this draft that would be ideal options for the Falcons.
Value: Only in the right scheme, would Jenkins be worth a Top 10 pick. But he's definitely a nice option as a mid-first rounder and should definitely be taken in the Top 15 picks.
