Adam Leonard, OLB, Hawaii

Adam Leonard
6-0/240 Hawaii
4.88 Senior

Pros: A scrappy, tough, player that is good in pursuit. Comfortable working in space and takes good angles to the ball. Has good closing burst. Shows potential as a pass rusher and blitzer.

Cons: Lacks ideal long speed to make plays sideline to sideline. Struggles at the point of attack when you run right at him. Doesn't get off blocks and gets stuck in traffic. Will bite on play fakes at times.

Overview: Leonard works nicely in tandem with Elimimian since he handles the outside plays, while Elimimian does the work inside.

NFL Forecast: Leonard can work his way into a backup position as a WILL at the next level. He lacks upside to be a starter, but could be a competent backup if he can prove himself on special teams. He could also get some looks in the 3-4 as well as an inside linebacker since he doesn't have ideal speed for an OLB in the 4-3. But regardless, he won't bring a lot to the table as a defensive player, making his living on special teams.

ATL Forecast: Leonard could be a decent option as a reserve WILL for the Falcons, but that will depend on if he can stick on special teams. He probably would just be a camp body however. But he could land a practice squad spot this year and then be better able to contribute a year from now on defense. But he's limited and eventually someone with more upside will come along and take his rosters pot.

Value: Leonard isn't worth a draft pick, but some team should bring him to camp.
