Ashlee Palmer
6-2/223 Mississippi
4.59 Senior

Pros: Has good speed and burst with nice closing speed. Works well in space and can make plays in pursuit. Has good ability in coverage, although better in zone than man.

Cons: Is undersized and needs to improve at the point of attack. Will over pursue at times and doesn't have great instincts.

Overview: Palmer gets a lot of reps in coverage for Ole Miss. He performs well in that role and likely will do the same at the next level. He is a JUCO transfer, having played quarterback and safety at
Compton (CA) Community College.

NFL Forecast: Palmer has the makings of being a solid nickel linebacker at the next level. He does have some ability to project well in the Tampa-2 scheme. Doesn't have ideal upside, and he's going to need to get bigger and stronger to hold up vs. the run. But he can spell guys on passing downs. With a few years of working on special teams and as a backup he could make a decent starter, but I doubt he ever is an impact player in that role.

ATL Forecast: Palmer would be a nice backup option for the Falcons on the outside. If he can stick on special teams early on, he's good enough to challenge for the top backup honors at the WILL spot. His ability to contribute as a potential nickel linebacker gives him some value since he could potentially spell Lofton on passing downs. He'll need some time to get bigger and stronger vs. the run. I don't see him being anything more than an average starter at best in Atlanta, but could be a decent stopgap three or four years down the road. But he'd primarily be a backup in Atlanta, rather than project as a future starter.

Value: Palmer can provide capable depth, making him a nice fit as a late round pick around Round Seven.
