Johnny Williams
6-1/236 Kentucky
4.74 Senior

Pros: Shows a nice first step when he works as an edge rusher. Has nice closing burst and does a good job when he's moving upfield. Shows good effort and motor and can make plays in pursuit and on the backside.

Cons: Needs to get better at the point of attack, getting off blocks. Gets engulfed when he plays with his hand on the ground. Lacks ideal speed and is just average in coverage. Will take some poor angles to the ball. Not as physical a tackler as you'd expect for his size.

Overview: Williams plays with his hand on or off the ground, making him a nice fit for the 3-4 scheme.

NFL Forecast: Williams has some ability in the 3-4, and flashes enough ability to make you believe he can stick as a reserve at the next level. But he'll have to impact on special teams in order to make that happen. He works best as a pass rusher and despite his lack of size does a nice job as an edge rusher. But that's really the only time he shows great explosiveness. He's just average or worse vs. the run and in coverage, which limits his upside and potential to develop at the next level. Teams may like his pass rushing ability and work ethic, but there isn't much else to him. I could see him having success in the CFL, but limited as an NFL player.

ATL Forecast: Williams is limited in his potential in Atlanta. At best you would like to see him contribute as a situational pass rusher and also working as a suitable SAM linebacker on run downs. But the latter is unlikely to happen. And he's not explosive or big enough to have much impact as a situational pass rusher. Might be a step or two below Kroy Biermann as far as that goes, which is less than ideal.

Value: Williams isn't worth a draft pick, but a 3-4 team should look into him as an undrafted free agent.
