Morris Wooten
6-0/231 Arizona State
5.10 Senior

Pros: An aggressive tackler with nice pop. Has good closing burst. Is a good athlete that moves well in space. Is capable on short zones and does a nice job reading the quarterback. Does well attacking the line of scrimmage and can shoot gaps.

Cons: Lacks ideal speed, although he plays faster than he times. Lacks ideal instincts and will over pursue at times. Work ethic and character can be called into question.

Overview: Wooten is an underrated player that doesn't have ideal measurables, but plays a physical style. A former JUCO player that was suspended for the bowl game as a junior for violating team rules. Also was suspended at the start of this past year, although managed 72 tackles in 9 games played. Multiple suspensions and slow 40 time cause some concern for character and work ethic.

NFL Forecast: In time, he can be developed into a capable starter. He has upside there, but needs to be developed. He's probably not going to impact the league early on, so he'll have to be able to perform on special teams. But in time, he could be a nice starter down the road if he gets the opportunity. I think he could work in the 3-4 or 4-3, which gives him nice versatility to play inside in both schemes. He doesn't have great upside as a starter, but could be a capable guy for a couple of years for team. You just wonder if he can remain focused in order to stick around long enough to get that chance.

ATL Forecast: Wooten could be a nice backup to Lofton. He's probably not a threat to take over for Lofton at any point in his career, but has the potential to be an upgrade over Gilbert in the middle. It just remains to be seen if he's as capable a special teams player as Gilbert. If he is, then he can stick. If not, then he'll be gone. But could land on the practice squad and be given a shot next year. Down the road in the event of an injury, he could be a nice stopgap replacement in the middle.

Value: Wooten has upside, but he's only a late round pick. Without the character questions he might merit a late fifth or sixth rounder, but at best he's a seventh rounder.
