John Gill
6-3/302 Northwestern
4.90 Senior

Pros: He has good size, strength, and motor. Doesn't quit on a play. Has a decent first step which makes him an effective bull rusher. Will flash solid play at the point of attack and does a good job when he's facing one on one match-up.

Cons: Not going to give you much as a pass rusher. Has trouble getting off blocks at times and needs to improve when he's facing double teams. Lacks burst to make plays in pursuit outside the short area.

Overview: He's a good fit for a 3-4 scheme at nose tackle. A four-year starter that was productive his final two years at Northwestern, combining for 18 tackles for loss and 8 sacks along with 94 tackles.

NFL Forecast: I see Gill as another Chris Hoke like player. I don't see him as a starter in the NFL, but would make a solid rotational backup in the 3-4 scheme at nose tackle. He'll get better with time and might down the road become a serviceable starter similar to Jeff Zgonina, but is not exactly the type of player you want to build around. He's better in a rotation than a starting lineup. He provides solid depth.

ATL Forecast: Gill isn't an ideal fit in the 4-3 scheme, but certainly could help a 4-3 team like the Falcons in their rotation. Eventually he could become the starter, but he's really only a two-down player and would bring very little as a pass rusher. But with his motor and potential vs. the run, he could be a valuable rotational player for the Falcons.

Value: At best, Gill is a fifth round pick for a 3-4 team. For a 4-3 team, his value is closer to a seventh round pick.
