Brandon Nicolas 6-3/290 Colorado 5.26 Senior
Pros: Has good strength and power making him an effective bull rusher. Uses strength well and flashes potential taking on double teams and holding the point of attack. Has a nice motor.
Cons: Lacks quickness and provides little as a pass rusher. Is a short- area player that lacks athleticism. Probably still needs to get bigger to play in the middle. Needs to be more consistent getting base and leverage at the point.
Overview: He's a poor man's Kelly Gregg. Destined to be a backup NT in the 3-4, but won't provide much else. Two-year starter after transferring from Notre Dame once Charlie Weis was hired.
NFL Forecast: If he can get bigger and stronger vs. the run, he has a chance to help out a 3-4 team off the bench. But he lacks the upside and never will be a starter. He can impress a team with his motor and strength, but will never be a factor as a pass rusher. I think if he can bulk to around 310 or more, he stands a very good chance of being a backup nose tackle.
ATL Forecast: While his size would help the Falcons rotation, his inability to put pressure on the quarterback hurts his chances of sticking in Atlanta. Could eat up some minutes as a space eater in the rotation, but lacks real upside to develop there.
Value: Don't draft him, but a 3-4 team would be smart to bring him to camp.
