Pros: He has good size, quickness, and strength. Has a nice first step that shows some natural pass rush ability and potential. Does a nice job penetrating and shooting gaps. Shows some potential as a bull rusher. Has a decent motor and will make plays vs. the run laterally and chase down ballcarriers.
Cons: Lacks strength and toughness to maintain point of attack. Routinely pushed off the ball and pancaked by larger, stronger blockers. Struggles with double teams. Despite nice raw skills, doesn't play up to athletic potential. Doesn't have great motor and lacks any real pass rush moves. Lacks ideal burst upfield and not explosive off the snap to be a good bull rusher.
Overview: Scott is a natural 4-3 tackle that plays both the 3 and 1- techniques, but much better in the former. Quit team briefly in 2005 because of lack of playing time, but came back. Missed a game this past year with a knee sprain.
NFL Forecast: He can provide nice depth for a team looking for a guy that could contribute on passing downs off the bench. But that's about it. Despite his size and strength, doesn't play the run well. He's a project there, and I doubt he'll ever be good enough to make it as a starter. He's a situational interior pass rusher, but with more teams moving their oversized ends there, it makes it tougher for him to earn playing time. He could be a nice backup tackle, that helps the rotation, but I don't see him ever being anything more than an average reserve.
ATL Forecast: Scott could add some quickness as an interior pass rusher in Atlanta. But he's not going to be a starter here. He won't be much more than an OK backup to Babineaux at the 3-technique, who can occasionally get some reps at the 1-technique on passing downs. He could provide some depth, but is probably not going to develop into anything more than a decent No. 3 tackle.
Value: For a team hoping to develop his pass rush skills, at the earliest he might be worth a sixth round pick. But truly a seventh round guy.
