Pros: Has a nice motor and does a good job beating lesser tackles on the edge.
Cons: Don't think he has the quickness or burst to beat NFL tackles on the edge. Gets pushed around in the running game. Doesn't get off blocks. Relies on his edge speed and lacks pass rush moves.
Overview: Mitchell was effective against the lower level of competition as an edge rusher, but not sure he has the burst or quickness to continue that at the next level. Only had 2 sacks as a senior. Missed some time in the spring coming off shoulder surgery, and missed a few games this year because of an injured foot.
NFL Forecast: Mitchell is a tweener. He'll either have to bulk up and try to be a disruptive interior player, or slim down in order to be more of a factor as an edge rusher. As is, he just doesn't look like he's going to be a factor at the next level. He's suited to be a situational pass rusher, but just doesn't quite fit. He'll only be a backup, but might have some ability to help a team's rotation.
ATL Forecast: Mitchell could push for playing time, but would be hard- pressed to make the Falcons roster. He could be on the practice squad, but unless he slims down and gets quicker or bulks up, he's not going to have a crucial role with the team. Doesn't have the long term upside to be a factor unless he gets bigger and is able to move inside.
Value: Not worth drafting because he's a tweener and one-dimensional, but worth bringing to camp to see if he can push some guys.
