Paul Fanaika
6-6/327 Arizona State
5.59 Senior

Pros: Has good size and has potential as a run blocker. Has potential as a drive blocker. Uses his size well to get position in the ground game and has some pop off the snap. Can engulf smaller defenders and is most effective in a short area.

Cons: Has poor feet and struggles with quicker defenders. Can't be left on an island and whiffs on too many blockers. Not as powerful or explosive off the snap as you want with a player his size. Doesn't lock on to defenders.

Overview: Fanaika has NFL size, but is underwhelming. He was a part of a poor ASU offensive line that couldn't really protect Rudy Carpenter over the years. A three-year starter at right guard.

NFL Forecast: Some teams will look at Fanaika at right tackle, and has some ability to play there but his footwork is so poor that ends will beat him pretty badly. He has the size you like, but I doubt he'll live up to his potential. He could be an effective blocker in a zone blocking scheme, but would struggle on an island in a man blocking scheme. He's not a dominant run blocker despite his size and he's basically a marginal NFL prospect that if he wasn't as big as he was wouldn't merit much chance.

ATL Forecast: Fanaika at best would be an average backup for the Falcons at right guard, but he's too limited in pass protection and not good enough run blocker to offset that fact. He could be a nice practice squad for a year or two, but that's about it.

Value: Fanaika's size should get him a free agent contract, but don't waste a draft pick on him.
