Maurice Miller
6-3/325 Mississippi
5.38 Senior

Pros: Has good size and shows potential as a run blocker. Has good strength and shows some pop off the snap. Gets good position. Does a nice job initiating contact in pass protection. Has decent mobility and athleticism to block on the move.

Cons: Has poor footwork and technique in pass protection. Lacks ideal athleticism and struggles when blocking on an island. Doesn't adjust well in space and plays with poor base, which allows smaller players to push him around. Not consistently explosive off the snap and is a waist bender.

Overview: Miller is a big guard but not as physically dominant as you'd expect from a player his size. He's limited in pass protection and without strong run blocking skills to balance it out, it hurts his NFL potential. He started at right tackle as a sophomore and junior before moving inside to guard as a senior. Was clearly the weakest link on the Rebels' line.

NFL Forecast: Miller has some ability to stick as a backup guard, but more than likely teams will be waiting for him to blossom and he won't. Although his size potential and ability in the ground game make him an intriguing developmental prospect, he's too unpolished and poor in pass protection to think he'll ever stick long enough to be developed. At best, Miller can hope to become an average backup that can stick for a few years before being replaced by someone younger and better.

ATL Forecast: Miller offers some potential for depth at right guard. He has potential as a run blocker, but not enough to think he could surpass Dahl and would probably be only able to make the Falcons practice squad before getting cut at some point in 2010 or 2011.

Value: Miller is best picked up in free agency as his chances of impacting are too low to merit a draft pick.
