widetrak, I guess I stumbled upon the root of the character issues surrounding Brandon Flowers:

Ehh, thats not too smart to post a pic like that, even if its your hometown boys. This time of year they're overturning every rock imaginable. I still think he's a good kid fwiw, as I've never heard any problems about him at all. For EVERY game at VT, his dad would drive from Florida to Blacksburg and stay the weekend with him. I just always got the impression that he's a good kid, and we all know about the areas that some athletes can grow up in. Any way you slice it, somebodies gonna get a player, I'd love to have him.

Good points widetrak. That picture doesn't change my opinion of him on the field, although I might drop him a few spots on my draft board because of those issues. But I'm not sure it's enough to make him undraftable. Obviously, NFL teams are privy to more info than we are.

There are 2 obvious issues that you would have to sort out with this:

1) Does he deal himself?
2) Does he associate with drug dealers?

Thats what it looked like to me, prob his hometown boys from Florida. A lot of these guys need to realize that they are currently in the interview process, for a job. Just cause you're an athlete, doesn't mean you don't need to keep your nose as clean as possible. Interviews can cover anything, and you better believe all rocks are overturned when you're gonna give somebody 21-22 years old millions of dollars.

I wish Flowers the best, he's been my fav VT'er for the last couple years. Mainly cause he's plays smart and hard ALL the time. B/c he doesn't have optimum long speed, again, I think that shows his concentration and technique. If in fact if he drops, I hope we can land him somewhere in the 2nd. He was still the #1 CB after most people watched tape, and the game is still PLAYING football.

You just worry about a Vick/Pacman situation where he's associating himself with a bad element, which will lead to him getting into trouble.

"When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." I Cor. xiii. 11.

College is college, but after that its time to get serious. It's not like a large percentage of these athletes don't grow up in similiar situations, its just when are you going to step up and be a man?
