() indicate which round, or if the player was undrafted (U).

Here's how the first 2 teams break down by rounds:

1st - 18 (9 OFF, 9 DEF)
2nd - 7 (3 OFF, 4 DEF)
3rd - 8 (3 OFF, 3 DEF, 2 ST)
4th - 5 (1 OFF, 3 DEF, 1 ST)
5th - 6 (3 OFF, 2 DEF, 1 ST)
6th - 4 (1 OFF, 1 DEF, 2 ST)
7th - 2 (1 OFF, 1 DEF)
undrafted - 7 (1 OFF, 6 ST)

6 of the Top 10 picks made the All-Rookie teams. All but 1 pick (#16 - Shawn Andrews) between picks #10 and #21 made the All-Rookie squad.

I think it's also worth noting, that had I been in the Falcons warroom last April, we would have taken Will Smith over DeAngelo, Kevin Jones over Michael Jenkins, and Bobby McCray over Etric Pruitt, all of whom were 1st/2nd All-Rookies.

I never disagreed with the Hall selection, I just would have taken Will Smith over him. First off, I thought Smith had the potential to be a top DE in this league. Hall had similar potential at his position, but I felt Hall was a bit more raw entering the league than Smith was. I also felt that having a top DE better hides deficiencies at corner than the other way around, so I put a little more emphasis on the DE spot than CB.

I also believed that considering how relatively top-heavy last April's draft was with corners, there was a good shot the Falcons would find one in Round 2 or 3. That possibility became a reality when a 1st round talent like Will Poole slipped all the way to the top of Round 4. Now Poole was 2nd/3rd tier corner IMO, while Hall was a 1st. It was very likely that Hall could come into the league and start right away (albeit probably struggle while doing it), while Poole would need a bit more time to adjust.

If there was one pick I was unhappy with the most in the draft, it was the selection of Michael Jenkins. Jenkins IMO was a late 2nd round talent, and we took him pretty much an entire round too early. Especialy when a great back like Kevin Jones is on the board (whom I thought was worth a Top 10 pick). I just don't think you can pass up on that kind of talent, regardless of the fact that we already had Duckett & Dunn. Considering that entering this past season, it was a strong possibility that both players would be entering their final years in Atlanta, it made the Jones selection even more of a "no-brainer."

It's hindsight now, and I'm going to hope that Hall and Jenkins turn out to be as good players as Jones and Smith. I doubt they will, but oh well. We'll just have to make up for this April.
