With these 2nd day selections so far of Chauncey Davis, Michael Boley, and Frank Omiyale are a little bit better at addressing the needs. But none of these picks really jump out.
Again, a lot of developmental talents. Davis has good size (6-2/275) and quickness, but he doesn't really have that great strength, technique, or upside to be more than maybe a situational rusher.
Boley is fast and effective, but needs to improve in coverage. He is a SAM, but doesn't have the skills or strength to play there in the NFL, but we'll see if the Falcons try to stick him there.
Omiyale is a guy I figured we would target in Round 5. He has good athleticism and mobility, but needs to add strength. He's a guy that probably won't challenge Shaffer right away, but if he has a good camp he could be a choice to succeed him in 2006, depending on how well Shaffer plays this year.
We'll see what we get in the 6th and 7th rounds. Hopefully we can get a hitter at the safety position. Hopefully Grootegoed will be available.
