JACKSON STATE (March 18th) senior wide receiver CHRIS JONES (#3) ran between 4.43 and 4.46 in the 40... 4.27 short shuttle... 7.03 three-cone... 12.10/12.18 60-yard... 37" vertical... 10'0" broad jump... 32 1/2" arms... 9 1/2" hands... weighed in at 6020, 211 pounds... has gained ten pounds, since the end of the season... did not have any issues with his right hamstring, which bothered him some at the HBCU All-Star Classic... big-play specialist the past few years... new coaching staff kept his stats down, as a senior, as they went to more of a ground attack... his physical tools are all very similar to former Jackson State standouts... but he has less of the "talkative" bravado... more of a low maintenance kid... ran 4.5's at the HBCU on a slower FieldTurf surface... trying to get eligible to workout as part of Mississippi State's Pro Day... Atlanta, Dallas, Minnesota, New Orleans and San Diego have all paid close attention to his workouts.

TROY STATE (March 17th) senior defensive end/outside linebacker DEMARCUS WARE ran between 4.50 and 4.55 in the 40... some had him as fast as 4.49... it was more of a private workout that was attended by at least seven teams... Baltimore, Carolina, Cleveland, Dallas and Houston have shown him additional attention... will have a private visit with Atlanta on March 30th.

NEBRASKA junior safety JOSH BULLOCKS had no less than eight defensive back coaches at his recent Pro Day... Atlanta, Dallas, New Orleans and the NY Jets have been showing additional interest in him... the Saints staff members spent time after the workout talking and meeting with him over dinner.

Jones is a player that most are considering a FA/7th round prospect at best. His numbers definitely look good, but NFL Draft Scout has him rated as 125th best WR in the country as of now, and considering that usually only 30-40 wide receivers get drafted, that would indicate he is very far down the list. BUt you never know, he could be one of those small school sleeper guys that Mike Coleman was and could show up on teams radars. Of course Jackson State is not nearly as small as Division III Widener was.

Ware is intriguing, because many consider him to be one of the top pass rushers in this class. His biggest negatives are his lack of size, so he's most likely a work in progress. But he has the frame and already good strength (430 bench) to put on more bulk and be successful with it. I know many of the 3-4 teams are hoping to nab him in Round 2 to play OLB for them, which is where many experts are projecting him. A LOT of comparisons to Jason Taylor at this point.

As for Bullocks, that's no surprise. It would seem the Falcons from their interest in him are targetting a pure FS, so guys like Bullocks and Pool. I would assume Pool is a possibility in Round 1, although I think McKay is against drafting a safety that early (it would mean guys at DT and DE are not there). Bullocks is a Round 2 target. Possible Day 2 targets include (in no particular order): Mitch Meeuwesen (Oregon State), Kerry Rhodes (Louisville), Gerald Sensabaugh (UNC), Sean Considine (Iowa), Junior Rosegreen (Auburn), Dustin Fox (Ohio State) and James Butler (Georgia Tech).
