Three Pittsburgh football players, including starting running back Ray Graham and wide receiver Devin Street, were charged with assault and conspiracy Thursday night according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Their status for Saturday's contest at Notre Dame is unknown.
According to the police, Graham, Street and starting cornerback Lafayette Pitts confronted a man last month, words were exchanged and Street punch him in the head. The incident was reportedly unprovoked and the victim chose not to file a report. The three players were not arrested.
Graham, who is NFLDraftScout.com's No. 8 senior running back for the 2013 NFL Draft, has yet to look 100% from last year's knee injury, but recorded a season-best 109 rushing yards and three scores last week in the win over Temple. He is the Panthers' leading rusher with 622 yards this season, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. When healthy, Graham drew favorable comparisons to Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy, another shifty back who prepped for the Panthers
Street leads the Big East in most receiving categories with 50 catches for 695 yards and four touchdowns. A redshirt junior, he is NFLDraftScout.com's No. 10 ranked wideout for the 2014 NFL Draft. Street has been the Panthers most consistent offensive player in 2012, recording three 100-yard receiving performances in the last four games.
Pitts, a redshirt freshman, earned a starting cornerback role this season for the Panthers and led the team with five pass break-ups. He also has 21 tackles and a forced fumble in 2012, adding a 27.8 average on kickoff returns.
