Coach Mora was on Total Access and DeAngelo was the guest and asked him what positions we were looking at for #47. Mora mentioned S, CB, DE, OL (in that order) but not RB.

Does anybody think that means the Falcons are leaning towards taking a RB?

Anythings possible , wonder if it is a freudian slip? If the Falcon's go running back then I think Maurice Drew would be the pick.I don't think Lendale White slips all the way so possbily running back.

I hope I'm wrong but I am getting the feeling the Falcons will hang onto Duckett, not draft a back this year, and just let Duckett walk next year. I really hope this doesn't happen.

White would be just as much a square peg in a round hole as much as Duckett is.

In the 2nd if Addai is there we'd be hard press to pick anyone else.

The question was what positions are we looking at with the 47th pick. Mora's answer implies that the team probably thinks that S, CB, DE, & OL are the likely positions that they will look at being there for them to pick. That means they probably don't think a RB will be there when they pick. From what I've read about how McKay and company organize their draft board, they know wear players ought to go according to their evaluations of them and can tell roughly what group of players will still be around at their picks. So, Mora probably only gave away that they believe a RB will not likely be there at #47. From what McKay has said though, they will be looking to get a RB (preferably with return abilities) in this draft. I think we might see them get Drew in the 3rd hopefully.

It seems suspicious to me jag, because I think that RB is very much a consideration at #47. I'm sure the team would prefer to wait until Round 3 to get a back, so they could use the #2 pick on a defensive back, but it seems to me much more likely that a quality RB will be available at #47 than an OL that fits Gibbs scheme.

Mora's omission of RB seems to me a method of misdirection, and makes me believe even more strongly that it's a good possibly that we will take a RB at #47.

Besides Colledge, what other OL is worthy of such a selection? At RB, you have Addai, Calhoun, and Drew.

this is nothing more than hiding your intentions... That is why you typically see players contacted by 30 teams prior to draft, but after being drafted, they say that it was by a team that had not contacted them. By feigning little to no interest, it keeps someone from coming in right before you pick and stealing your player.

Well Pudge, we were both right. McKay waited on a RB until the 3rd round and decided to get the DB with the 2nd round pick. I wonder how far Williams would have lasted had we not traded up. Now we don't have a pick until the 5th round, but I guess we got two very important pieces to the future of this team. I'm really excited that we got two guys who fit our schemes well and will have a lot of potential to be very good.
