The year's upcoming draft and the college game can be discussed here.

Thinking about having a mock draft contest for the site

Postby Pudge » Thu Feb 09, 2006 10:46 am

What do you guys think? Maybe like the week of the draft, we'll have people submit mock drafts in a sort of contest to see who most closely predicts the 1st round of the draft.

Prize would be maybe that FalcFans.com provides the cost for a subscription to a draft site of your choice for 1 or 2 years.

I guess accuracy would be based on not the order of which players were selected, but getting them to the correct team, similar to how The Huddle Report.com grades mock drafts. 1 point awarded to having the player predicted to go in Round 1, 2 points for matching him to the right team.

Suggestions? Ideas?

I'm in even though I suck thoroughly at the draft period. I think ESPN has a mock draft game with a solid point system too. It is also free if we wanted to let ESPN handle the scoring for us. :)

Either way.

Well one simple tie breaker would be whoever correctly picked the Falcons pick. Another may be who had the most consecutive picks correct in a row starting with the #1 pick.

We still have some time to formalize it (about 2 months), but I was just thinking about something to do draft related for the site.

IDK about you all, but I like the idea of picking the First pick in the second round, and whoever gets that right, or closest wins...(If indeed, there is a tie)

OK guys, I'm planning on setting up a separate forum for the mock draft contest probably 2 weeks prior to the draft. People can post their mock drafts in that forum. The contest will probably end at 11:59 PM EST, on the night before the draft, which should be April 28. Up until then, people can post their mock drafts and have ample time to edit them up until the deadline.

I think as of right now, I'm going to use The Huddle Report's scoring system of grading mock drafts. 2 points if you match the right player to the right team, 1 point if you get the player in the first round. Correct order doesn't really matter, since order always changes due to trades and it's almost impossible to predict them. But if you feel the desire to, you can put trades in the mock drafts you submit.

I think the prizes are going to be:

1) A one-year subscription (paid for by FalcFans.com) to a draft-related site of your choice.
2) A free replica Falcons jersey from the FalcFans.com store. You can see the inventory here: http://www.footballfanatics.com/fanstor ... D7440F20D4

What, no number 75? And there are still Peerless Price jerseys on there?

Are we still going to do a mock draft?

Postby thescout » Thu Mar 30, 2006 11:39 pm

Just wondering if there is going to be a mock draft contest still even though the falcon's don't have a no1 pick?

Yes. I'm sure it's not going to be as much fun for most people, but I think people should still be allowed to flex their prognosticatory skills.
