To me this is the more critical question for the Falcons on draft day. Now, I don't suspect that both will be available when the Falcons pick. But let's say in this hypothetical situation, both are available when the Falcons pick...Who do you take?

IMO, both players are among the 10 best players in this draft, and possibly the 5 best in this draft. Obviously Morgan fills a bigger need, but you can make the argument that Haden is potentially a better player, and because of the position he plays probably will make a more immediate impact.

And let's say one or both players are within striking distance at say pick #16 or #17 in the draft. Do you put together a package to go up and get them (say it only requires us to give up a middle round pick to do so), or are you just content to wait and see if they fall or "settle" for a guy like Graham or Weatherspoon if available at #19?

Haden will not fall to us. He won't get close to us.

Morgan is unlikely to fall to us. I can't see New York passing on someone of Morgan's caliber. If Morgan is there when New York picks, they will take him. So if we really want Morgan, we'll have to trade up 5 spots (Seattle) to get him. That would mean giving up our 1st, our 3rd, and our 4th in order to get him. Perhaps we could give them our 1st and Dahl or Clabo. Or perhaps add Norwood to the mix, they're looking for a RB.

Another possibility would be to trade up with Jacksonville at #10. I've seen in more than one place that they want Tebow. No one in their right mind would take Tebow in the first round, but Jacksonville might be desperate enough to do so. But if we were to trade up to #10 for draft picks, that would cost us the rest of the draft. Haden might be there at #10.

I wouldn't make a deal with Jacksonville unless we KNEW that we were getting a superstar.

Rob, I think you're trade projections are a bit off.

More than likely, to move up to where the Giants are picking at #15, the Falcons wouldn't have to give up more than their 3rd round pick.

Tampa Bay moved up from 19 to 17 last year with just a 6th round pick.

Baltimore moved up from 26 to 23 last year with just a 5th round pick.

In 2008, KC moved up from 17 to 15 for a 3rd and 5th, but also got a 3rd back (10 spots lower than previously picking).

That same year, Baltimore moved up from 26 to 18 by giving Houston a 3rd and 6th.

Dallas moved up from 28 to 25 and gave up a 5th and 7th.

The Falcons would probably only have to give up a 3rd and 4th to move up to the 12th pick or higher.
